Any group I were to go out with any one in the group that refused to carry could stay home. If they are not interested in protecting me why should I protect them? any circumstance could arise I might have to shoot to protect some one in the groups from a bear attack. I should be able to expect the same from any one in the group to shoot for my protection. At ten feet hoot for the eyes.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7877849.post-37484172913805143112020-04-02T08:42:48.156+10:002020-04-02T08:42:48.156+10:00Thanks.

I ...I know of an example not included in your list. I will give the best of my recollection:

From about 2005 to 2010 my wife and I owned the Bill Cody Ranch (billcodyranch.com) in NW Wyoming. Sometime toward the end of that period, up in the Shoshone Forest (I'm guessing) one of our former wranglers (can't recall his name at the moment) was out on a guided hunt. One of the customers had shot an elk, and this wrangler was carrying a quarter out. He was charged by a grizzly. He pulled out his .41 Mag revolver (I think one of those Taurus Trackers), fired one warning shot, then two rounds to the chest of the charging bear. It dropped at his feet, and he was unharmed. The bear turned out to be a 400 lb older male. This wrangler reported this shooting to the (federal?) authorities, and he was taken back out in a helicopter to the shooting site. They investigated the shooting and determined it was a legitimate defensive shooting.

I was not present during this hunt so my information is second-hand, but I recall it made quite a buzz in the local community.Paul Bonneauhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15279129269584372919noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7877849.post-26738998607911647382020-03-28T12:03:21.987+10:002020-03-28T12:03:21.987+10:00Near the end of this, one report said they shot 9 ...Near the end of this, one report said they shot 9 times at the bear with two .44 mag pistols at ten feet away and only made two hits. I suggest before those two marksmen go out again they try some target practicing or get a gun they can handle. those two could not win at Russian roulette. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
