OH: Latino neighbors break up North Side robbery: "When Moses Cajero pressed his ear against his neighbor's door, he could hear people screaming inside her town house. "If you call the police, I'll kill you," someone shouted. He opened the door before he had time to think about it and found himself face to face with a man holding a handgun. "Go ahead and shoot me," he remembers saying. "There are two more guys right behind me." Cajero had interrupted an armed robbery. Two men accosted his neighbor in the parking lot outside her North Side home as she was arriving from work about 1 a.m. on Jan. 11, a Sunday. They pushed her into her town house at gunpoint and demanded money, Columbus police spokeswoman Amanda Ford said. The men didn't realize that their car had been noticed as they drove it slowly down a street just north of Schrock Road with the headlights off. They were being watched by members of a close-knit Latino community. The man holding the gun bolted past Cajero and out the front door, Cajero said. Scott Adjei, 22, was arrested Jan. 19 and charged with aggravated burglary, kidnapping, aggravated robbery and robbery. He is being held in the Franklin County jail. The other attacker ran for the back door, but Cajero and the two other neighbors tackled the man and held him down until police arrived. Police arrested Momodu A. Mansaray, 22, and he has been indicted on charges of aggravated burglary, kidnapping and aggravated robbery. Cajero's wife and the woman who was attacked are both from El Salvador, and the families know each other from the neighborhood."
IN: Woman speeds off, foils robbery effort: "An armed man tried to rob a fast-food restaurant manager as she made a night bank deposit late Monday. The woman told police she was in her car shortly before 11:30 p.m. outside Wells Fargo at 3140 E. Paulding Road. She was about to make the nightly cash deposit from her restaurant when an armed man walked up to her and demanded money, Fort Wayne police spokesman Scott Tegtmeyer said, reading from a police report. The woman stepped on the gas pedal and drove away. She called police when she returned to her workplace, and officers later escorted her back to the bank so she could deposit the money."
MD: Lieutenant governor pushes for gun confiscation: ""Lt. Gov. Anthony G. Brown, whose cousin was killed last year by her estranged boyfriend, said he will urge lawmakers to pass the governor's initiatives on domestic violence. Gov. Martin O'Malley is asking that judges be allowed to confiscate guns from the subjects of temporary protective orders, and be required to take them after final protective orders are issued. Catherine T. Brown, 40, was fatally shot in August by Michael K. Wilson, who was then killed by Montgomery County police. The District of Columbia elementary school teacher had not sought a protective order against Wilson, but the lieutenant governor said the experience left him with a new urgency to protect victims of domestic violence."
NV: Town withdraws gun ban: ""There was definitely a hot time in the old town Tuesday night, due in part to an item placed on the town board meeting agenda by Pahrump Town Manager Bill Kohbarger that would have barred firearms on town-owned property, in town-owned buildings and at town-sponsored events .. The board's first order of business after the pledge of allegiance was to permanently remove the firearms ban from the agenda, on advice from the town's attorney, Rick Campbell. He said, `My research shows the town does not have the legal right to enact these types of ordinances.' That ended the matter for the board but didn't stop the 200 or so people in attendance from wanting to voice their opinions."
