TX: Robber shoots first but still ends up dead: "Dallas police are still investigating a shooting involving an armored car driver in the 2300 block of West Davis Street. News 8 has confirmed that the driver arrived at the Checks Cashed business around 9:45 a.m. and was ambushed by a man who shot him upon opening the door of the vehicle. Police say the robber was hiding and waiting. "It looks like he was delivering some currency, and it looks like perhaps he was ambushed by the suspect, who was waiting at the bus stop." Despite being struck in the arm, the armored car driver was able to return fire, hitting the suspect several times, who later died of his injuries."


NE: Man Found Not Guilty of Killing Daughter's Ex: "A jury has found an Omaha man not guilty of murdering his daughter's ex-boyfriend. Sidney Andersen walked out of the Douglas County Courthouse a free man Friday afternoon. Prosecutors say he shot and killed Randall Grimm at an area grocery store in February 2011. Andersen's lawyer said he shot Grimm in self-defense and claimed Grimm had made threats to his family and even beat his daughter. Prosecutors say the jury found that the shooting was justified. They however believe the crime was pre-meditated since Andersen was armed with two guns and rubber gloved the night of the killing. Prosecutors also said that Andersen called investigators in Sarpy County leading up to the shooting. They told Andersen to let them handle the situation."


Gun rights prevail as WA Supremes deny Seattle’s appeal: "The Washington State Supreme Court has unanimously rejected the City of Seattle’s request for review in its loss to the Bellevue-based Second Amendment Foundation and National Rifle Association in a case that struck down the city’s attempt to ban guns in city park facilities, in what was recognized as an effort to undercut Washington’s model preemption law. Thus, the unanimous Appeals Court ruling against Seattle – announced last Oct. 31 – is allowed to stand and the state preemption statute, first passed in 1983 and strengthened in 1985, is affirmed. Seattle lost and gun owners won …big time."
