A man who was shot and seriously wounded when he tried to rob a Kansas City, Kan., convenience store has pleaded guilty to a federal firearms charge, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said today.
Donnell H. Roberson, 25, Kansas City, Kan., pleaded guilty to one count of carrying a firearm in furtherance of an armed robbery.
In his plea, Roberson admitted that on Jan. 10, 2011, he was one of two men carrying handguns and wearing masks who robbed the Everyday Convenience Store at 6828 Kaw Drive in Kansas City, Kan.
Roberson was shot as he fled the store. About half an hour later, Roberson was admitted to Providence Medical Center with a gunshot wound. Roberson had two collapsed lungs from being shot. One of his lungs was removed at Providence Medical Center.
Sentencing is set for Dec. 10. He faces a sentence of not less than seven years and not more than life in federal prison.
