GEORGE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - A George County man found himself on the wrong end of a homeowner's gun after allegedly breaking into a home on Crenshaw Road Saturday night.
Sheriff Dean Howell said just after midnight, dispatch received a call from a homeowner who said he was holding a burglar at gunpoint. When deputies arrived, they found Alex Hamblin standing on the sidewalk with the suspect, Wilton Grady Dickerson, 28.
Hamblin recounted how he had heard a loud noise downstairs, grabbed his gun and found Dickerson standing in the kitchen. At first, the homeowner thought it was his son, but quickly realized it wasn't. He said the intruder was wearing his wife's coat, so he told him to take it off, put his hands in the air, and drop to the floor. The suspect complied.
