In late April, this column reviewed “Guns across the Border,” the inside account of the Operation Wide Receiver “ by Mike Detty, the confidential informant working with the government in what he thought would be a way to fight cartel purchasers, but which turned out to instead be a “gunwalking” debacle predating Fast and Furious.
With full disclosure that I wrote the introduction to Detty’s book (with a foreword by CBS News correspondent and Emmy/Edward R. Murrow Award-winner Sharyl Attkisson), I outlined the reasons why I believe it is an important key to understanding how ATF is run at several levels and how such disastrous outcomes are not only allowed to happen, but essentially guaranteed. Because of that, I’ve done what I can to help spread the word about Detty’s book, including promoting it on other websites and arranging radio interviews.
Being an “unauthorized journalist,” my reach is relatively short, so much of the promotion depends on word of mouth and readers taking it upon themselves to share information within their spheres of influence via emails, blogs and social media. As demands for our attention and action occur every day, the thought strikes that one way to get this back on the radar is to offer an incentive.

My Cleveland library network that covers several cities in the area, already has it on order.
