The man armed himself and went to investigate the noise, Lt. Steve
Brooks said. He saw a man crawling through the dog door with what
appeared to be a black handgun in his hand.
When the suspect
started to lift the gun toward the victim, he fired twice at him,
Brooks said. The man immediately backed out of the dog door and ran
away.
