Police told WKYT-TV in Lexington that 45-year-old James Bloom had
been urinating on the side of the gas station Sunday night at
around 9 p.m. EDT. Police say Bloom took out a knife and yelled
racial slurs at the employee while approaching him.
Officers say the employee took out a gun and fired off a warning
shot into the air, startling Bloom to the point that he jumped
and stabbed himself.
