GA:Extemporaneous Posse Nabs Armed Robbery Suspect

Criminals take note; You're taking a chance if you try to ply your trade in the Dodge County town of Rhine. Local law enforcement is praising townspeople for some de facto community policing, after tracking down and helping catch an armed robbery suspect.

(snip)

"People just kept coming around and they were mad, people in Rhine were mad," Lowery said. "Here we had an armed robbery in the middle of the day at Aden's and they wanted to form a posse."

(snip)

Lowery, a retired corrections officer, ended up tracking the suspect down roughly 200 yards away from the store. He fired a warning shot from his deer rifle and says the suspect stashed his gun and money, and hid in a nearby  shed, where he was soon arrested by Dodge County sheriff's deputies.

Police arrest three for having replica guns: South Euclid police blotter

    SOUTH EUCLID

Replica firearms/ Greenvale Road: Two men and a 17-year-old were arrested after police found they had paintball and pellet guns that looked exactly like real firearms.

Police said a 21 year old, an 18 year old and a 17 year old, were all arrested on suspicion of trespassing and the two teenagers were arrested on suspicion of having replica firearms.

Reports say officers spotted the trio near an apartment building on Greenvale Road and the two teenagers began to run. The 21 year old, reports say, started walking away quickly. Officers noted the 21 year old had something in his hand that looked like a gun.

The man was eventually apprehended by police, and they later found that he dropped a replica Colt Defender air pistol in nearby bushes.

Officers then found the other two. Reports say it appeared one was reaching for something on the ground and officers ordered them to put their hands on a nearby wall.

Reports say officers found a paintball gun revolver with a laser attached to it that appeared real to officers. Officers reported they later found a full-sized paintball gun near the building.

They eventually told officers the paintball and pellet guns were theirs and they went to the park to shoot each other.
