Police said the two suspects forced their way into the man's home, located at 71st Avenue and Thomas Road. The man grabbed his gun, confronted both suspects and gunfire was exchanged.
The 42-year-old victim suffered a critical gunshot wound and was transported to the hospital where he is not expected to survive.
