NC: Gun beats pry bar

According to the Rowan Sheriff's Office report, Lewis Johnson, who lives on the flea market property, told a deputy that he had confronted a man who was breaking into the drink machines near the main office.

Johnson told the deputy that the man had some kind of pry tool, possibly a crow bar, and that when Johnson spoke to the man, the man raised it "in an aggressive manner and began to advance on Mr. Johnson."

Johnson then fired one round from his Smith & Wesson .38. He told the deputy that he did not know if he hit the man, but that the man did turn and run away.
