Several good Samaritans stepped in to help the robbery victim, at which point the suspect pulled a gun, Cool said.
The
officer, who was not in uniform and not driving a patrol vehicle,
pulled over and pulled out his own weapon. After telling the suspect to
drop his gun, the officer opened fire, hitting the man once.
