CO: Legal Gun Carrier Shoots Attacking Dog


But Schatz’s owner -- who did not want to be identified -- shared a veterinarian’s report completed after the incident. The veterinarian’s report shows Schatz was bit and had a couple of cuts on the face. Witnesses told police Smizzy had Schatz’ head in his mouth when the shots were fired. Schatz’ owner said he tried getting the dog off of his dog before firing.

“The law does protect an animal owner from any animal that is attacking their animal if they reasonably believe it’s going to inflict serious bodily injury or death they have a right to use deadly force,” said 9NEWS legal analyst Scott Robinson.
