Ayoob, the author of more than a dozen books on firearms, self-defense, and related topics, presented to a group of around 40 people at the library. He explained why giving seminars like these were important.
“I teach the gun as an analog to the fire extinguisher,” Ayoob said. “You wouldn’t want to have an extinguisher and not know how to use it. In this case, you need to know not only how, but when.”
The first topic Ayoob discussed was the difference between the “Stand your Ground” law and Castle Doctrine.

I think you have to combine the two to comprehend the second amendment, stand your ground and castle doctrine. so I use them interchangeably. it makes my point self defense is needed everywhere, at home or in public. If you are going to open or conceal carry you still need to be proficient with the gun or guns you are carrying. shooting up your home is repairs you will have to make. shooting up the town because you can't hit a bull in the butt with a banjo is a more serious issue.
ReplyDeleteI made a comment a while back about hitting a tea cup at 50 feet. think about how short 50 feet is when your bullet may travel over a mile. be able to hit what you are shooting at or do not pull the trigger. make sure that bullet stops in something near by, hopefully the person you need to hit. You never know what or who may be a mile away. You can trust the sights on most guns for 50 feet. Expert marksmen know how important using the sights is. leave the snap shooting to the real experts that have trained for it.
Most cops are not experts. case in point, the LA bank robbery. approximately 300 cops where shooting at the robbers. they finally used a cruiser to run them down. some of the cops were shooting at less that 75 feet away. If they were experts they should have been able to hit the robbers in the eye at 75 feet and most of the bullets actually missed the robbers all together. why shoot at body armor it is there to stop bullets. If you want to make sure what you shoot does not get up shoot for the head. people do not get away very far with leg or arm wounds. Unless you are using 9mm you are not going to stop someone in body armor. If yu can hit a tea cup you can hit a head.
