Followup NC: No Charges for Employee who Shot, Killed Suspect
CANDLER - No charges will be issued in connection to a Dec. 23 armed robbery in Candler that left one dead, a spokeswoman with the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.
Deputies responded to a Mexican grocery store at 1109 Smokey Park Highway Friday night after the store employee called 911 to say a robbery was taking place, according to the agency. When authorities arrived they found the suspect, Darwin Alexander Medro Villatoro, 21, lying on the ground on Rutherford Road, which is near Tienda Mexicana. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
