CA: Armed Man Stops Assault, Shoots Self in Leg

Chow was the driver of his car and Givens was a passenger in a car driven by his girlfriend.

According to sheriff’s investigators, Chow pulled into a parking lot on Bear Valley Road, west of Amargosa Road, and Givens followed him.

Givens got out of his car and “confronted Chow about his driving,” officials said, and then began repeatedly punching Chow in the face.

Chow has a valid permit to carry a concealed weapon, and told investigators he pulled his handgun from his waistband because he feared for his safety and that of his wife.

  1. Mr. Chow's probably a real bad driver, you've seen these guys who are too short to see over the steering wheel. They're all elbows when they turn corners in wide exaggerated motions beginning long before the turn. All my shitty Oriental driver jokes beside the point, old homeboy really screwed the pooch getting out of his car & whaling on Mr. Chow. Incidentally, it sounds like Mr. Chow pulled over, because he's finally got his CCW. He decided now's my chance to be a real gunslinger & cowboy. I don't know where this took place, but here in Blue State Blue Mr. Chow would be cooling his heels in a jail cell. Didn't Mr. Chow precipitate this fight by pulling over & waiting for Homeboy to slap him around? Mr. Chow could have driven away @ anytime. I hope he's got CCW insurance, or he's gonna fry!

  2. CCW insurance is a waste of money if you are too damned ignorant to know when you are exercising your fight of self defense, do not carry. Mr. Chow did not have to do anything but use deadly force when he was being attacked. shoot straight and there is only one story to investigate. eventually we may run out of ass holes that think they can bully any one they please. or we could become a more respectful society. there will always be people that need a bullet more than I do so I am happy to give them my best.

  3. The law in Arizona for a long time stated, When an individual is being confronted by five or more people, the person being attacked can shoot all but one of the attackers and must fight the last one . the defender gets to chose which one he has to fight. Now there is no retreat required so I assume it is ok to shoot them all. the attackers are the law violators. No one has to tolerate being pounded on or injured to exercise self defense. The threat is the right to act. If this Mr. Chow was a danger to other drivers the one that attacked him should have called the cops to get him off the street. Personally I would have shot that SOB myself defending Mr. chow. Mr. Chow acted in self defense and perfectly legal. at least in Arizona. We have a story in the recent news of a man killed by one punch. You do not have to take the time to find out why you are being attacked. You are entitled to stop the attack with all force necessary including deadly force.
