Followup OH: Domestic Defense, 64-Year-Old Son Shot by 85-Year-Old Father, Defending 84-Year-Old Mother

Guernsey County Sheriff's Deputy Sam Williams said Carl Jeffery King was fatally wounded by a small caliber rifle after initiating a violent altercation with his parents.

Williams said victim's mother called 911 at approximately 7:45 p.m. stating that her son had come home intoxicated and threatened to kill her.

While the 84-year-old woman was on the phone with a dispatcher, her son emerged from a bedroom with a handgun and began firing at her.

The woman's 85-year-old husband, was able to retrieve a small caliber rifle from the kitchen and returned fire. Williams said about a dozen rounds were fired between the two men before King was mortally wounded.
