Investigators believe Watson arrived at his estranged wife's apartment where he confronted the woman's boyfriend. Watson assaulted the man who fired a handgun, hitting Watson.
Officers said both the estranged wife and her boyfriend stayed on the scene and are cooperating with the investigation.
