CA: Domestic Defense, Stepfather shoots 42-Year-Old Stepson to Protect Wife

Police received a 911 call reporting the shooting at 7:50 p.m. Thursday and arrived to find Baker dead. Benson said investigators were told that during a disturbance, Baker became enraged and began striking himself in the face and slamming his head into a refrigerator.

He then assaulted his mother, who has a medical condition, and forced her to the floor. Perry attempted to intercede, but was unsuccessful before retrieving a handgun and shooting Baker to protect his wife and himself. Both husband and wife sustained visible injuries in the attack, Benson said.
