AL: Armed Father Attempts to Stop Fleeing Suspect, Shoots, Kills, Suspect

The woman’s father tried to detain the man until police arrived, but he started to speed away. The father fired a shot from a pistol at the vehicle, trying to disable it so the man could not drive away.

The suspect fled at a high rate of speed on toward the only entrance/exit to Lone Oak Drive, but the woman’s father took the shorter route to try to cut him off and prevent his escape.

When he tried to block the suspect’s path, the suspect hit the back of the father’s truck, pushing the truck into Saks Road.

“As the suspect began colliding with the driver’s door of the father’s truck,” the press release stated, “the father fired a second round, which struck the suspect in the head.”
