YORKVILLE/NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. -- New Hartford Police and New York State Police are investigating two overnight home invasions which were reported within minutes of each other.
According to the Oneida County 911 Center, the first was reported at 2:35 a.m. New Hartford Police Chief Michael Inserra says someone kicked in the front door of 1465 Ney Avenue and three to four suspects entered the home and tried to commit a burglary. The chief says an occupant of the duplex who was in a rear bedroom heard commotion, came out with a long gun, and exchanged fire with a suspect who had a handgun.
