According to Sierra Vista Police, Fire, and EMS, detectives continued investigating the shooting after officers initially responded Sunday night to reports of gunfire. During the course of the investigation, the individual accused of shooting another person contacted the Sierra Vista Police Department and voluntarily met with detectives for an interview.
Investigators stated that both individuals involved confirmed they had met for the purpose of a firearm sale. However, police say each account of what happened afterward differed significantly.
According to police:
• The individual who sustained gunshot wounds told detectives the seller had left the firearm inside his vehicle before the sale was completed, exited the vehicle, and then opened fire.
• The second individual told detectives he had been robbed at gunpoint during the transaction and alleged the other party fired shots first.
