VA: Richmond - Domestic Defense? Woman Claims Shots were Fired in Self Defense

Richmond Police Chief Rick Edwards said police believe she was just a bystander to an unrelated incident, according to The Associated Press.

Republican Party of Virginia Chief Financial Officer Frank Loehr told the Richmond Times-Dispatch that the victim was shot in the shoulder as she was talking to people from the Nature Conservancy who had set up a booth on the sidewalk.

A woman at a hair salon across the street from the Obenshain Center told police that she fired shots in self-defense when a man with whom she has an ongoing dispute entered the salon, Chief Edwards said.

That woman is now in police custody.
