MS: Tunica County Homeowner Shoots two Home Invaders

On Friday, September 27, 2024, at approximately 1:15 a.m., the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a resident at 1655 Beatline Road in Tunica, MS advising of an attempted home invasion. The caller advised that gun fire was exchanged and that two subjects had been shot.
 
Sheriff deputies and first responders were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, sheriff deputies made contact with one, male individual suffering from a gunshot wound. This individual was treated on scene by Pafford and transported by Wings to an area hospital in Memphis, TN. This individual is identified as Mardis Carter, 46, who resides at the residence at 1655 Beatline Road in Tunica, MS.
 
While on scene, sheriff deputies made contact with the second gunshot victim. This male individual was treated on scene by Pafford but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by the Tunica County Coroner, Glen Grant. This individual has been identified as Nadarius Joiner, 30, of Tunica, MS.
 
Homeowners have a constitutional right to protect their homes once a person gains entrance. No arrests have been made.
