Investigators said a woman tried to hold Reed back during the argument as Magee started backing away with his hands up, attempting to de-escalate the situation.
Reed pushed Magee and then acted like he was walking away before he turned back around, drew a handgun and fired multiple rounds at Magee, according to police.
Investigators said Magee then pulled his own handgun and returned fire as he was falling to the ground. Reed reportedly fled the scene in a car.
Reed was taken into custody at his home around 10 p.m. on March 5. He was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence.
