DuBose, 54, suffered a gunshot wound during an altercation on Jarrett Road that investigators described as “road rage.” Investigators allege that DuBose pointed a gun at the back of the other driver, prompting the man’s girlfriend to fire two shots. They say DuBose fired back, striking the back window of the Honda.
The Sheriff’s Office said it is charging DuBose because investigators determined he was the aggressor.
Mayor Carletta Davis told FOX10 News that city policy prohibits non-police employees from carrying firearms while on the job. But she added that she does not have any other details about the incident – including DuBose’s license status.
