New Orleans Legal Gun Carrier Stops Mass Shooting

On the afternoon of 31 January, 2016, some ATVs were getting gas at the intersection of Claiborne and Esplanade Avenues in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Richard Macklin pulled up in a white Volvo.  Macklin is believed to have been the aggressor in the incident.  He pulled out a firearm and opened fire on the ATV riders.  Three were wounded before anyone returned fire.

One of the wounded was armed.  He drew his legally carried weapon and fired at Macklin, wounding him in the head and stopping the attack.  From  nola.gov/nopd:
Based on the initial investigation, detectives learned that a group of individuals were driving ATVs and had arrived at the location to get gas. At that time, a man driving a white Volvo, later identified as Macklin, pulled up to the gas station where he and the group began to argue. Macklin then pulled out a weapon and fired several shots at the group, striking three males ages 30, 31 and 32. One of the victims then pulled out a weapon and returned fire, striking Macklin in the head.
During the initial investigation, officers believe that the person who fired back did so in legitimate defense of self and others:
At this time, detectives believe it was an act of self-defense. He was also carrying a legal weapon, that was registered to him and that he had a concealed carry permit to carry.
For those who say that armed citizens and especially concealed carry permit holders, never stop mass shootings, this is a counter example that proves them wrong.

The weapon was registered? Don't know if weapons must be "registerd" in New Orleans or not.

Defensive shooting sceptics will NEVER acknowledge any facts that dispute their narrative. In fact they probably couldn't if they wanted to because of a psychological condition called cognitive dissonance.

Seems the article differs from the "The Times-Picayune" Article; Multiple arrests made in Esplanade and Claiborne shooting, police say.
