Sean Duffy was happy to pose with this constituent who was openly carrying at the Rusk County Republican dinner. The event was in Ladysmith last night, the 8th of October, 2016. Sean told the Wisconsin resident that he felt safer when he had people openly carrying guns around him, because he knew he could trust them.
Ladysmith is close to where I was born and raised in Northern Wisconsin. The Duffy boys went to school in the same high school I did in Hayward. Sean's father and I went to high school together.
It did not surprise me when Sean was elected to fill the seat of the former rep, Dave Obey. Obey was a Democrat who ran as a "moderate" and voted far left on everything he thought he could get away with. With the franking privilege, and the lack of alternative media, that was quite a lot. It is still difficult to hear a conservative on the media in much of the sparsely populated area. The media is dominated by "progressives", but the culture is quite conservative.
Sean fits the cultural set of northern Wisconsin much better than Dave Obey ever did. Sean is said to be a rising star in the House of Representatives in Washington.
Duffy has an "A" rating from the NRA.
Duffy has an opponent, Democrat Mary Hoeft. Votesmart.org shows this position on gun control:
Yes Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
Other or expanded principles
I support background checks at gun shows and private sales. I support banning those whose names are on terrorist watch lists from purchasing guns.It would be interesting to see if Mary Hoeft would pose for a photograph with an openly carrying constituent.

When speaking with politicians who support banning gun sales to those whose names appear on the no-fly list, ask them if they support banning those same people from voting in legislatures. If so, then ask them if they support annulling Senator Ted Kennedy's votes during the time his name was on the list.
