AL: Homeowner Shoots Intruder, Chases Suspect, is Wounded

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a burglary suspect was shot and killed by a homeowner in Center Point.

Deputies were called to a home in the 2400 block of Ormond Drive early Wednesday morning on a report of a burglary attempt and shooting. Upon arriving, they found the homeowner, 79-year-old John Croft, sitting on the front porch suffering from a gunshot wound to his ankle and another man shot inside.
