Followup TX: Thomas Hardin Shooting in Elgin ruled Self Defense

Moore said in a statement released Wednesday that 48-year-old Thomas Hardin and a relative of his had gone to a neighbor's home after a prior disagreement earlier that evening. Hardin was armed with a handgun, and the two neighbors exchanged gunfire.

Hardin died from a gunshot wound on the home's front porch.

I handled this case. The dead man was upset to find out that the homeowner was a crime scene cleaner. I don't know if he was mentally unbalanced, but it bothered him so much that he went over to the homeowner's house, knocked on the door and when it was opened, started shooting into the home. The homeowner was in fear for his and his family's lives, grabbed his gun in the middle of this and understandably shot back many times. The dead man managed to shoot into the home 9 times. Totally justified
