Boaz Police Chief Michael Abercrombie released the following statement on the lockdowns:
Officers received a call of shots fired at an address on HWY 168. The property is adjacent to Snead State Community College Campus. The caller stated that a subject dressed in black came onto their property and had a gun. One of the residents fired into the ground to scare the suspect away from the property. The suspect was said to have left on foot but may have possibly gotten into a vehicle and left the area. Several Police agencies responded and saturated the area. The investigation will continue in an attempt to gain more information.
