The gun regulations Obama has signed. They mostly seem just harmless blather but the devil will be in the detail of how they are enforced
1. "Issue a presidential memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system."

OK: 12 Year Old Shoots Home Intruder
A day off for fall break was anything but relaxing for a 12-year old Bryan County girl, when an intruder broke into her home on Michael Avenue.
Deputies say, the girl was home alone when a man she'd never seen before, rang the front doorbell. They say when no one answered the door, the man went around to the back of the house and kicked a door open. That's when authorities say, the girl grabbed a gun and hid in a bathroom closet.
"He had worked his way all the way through the house and into the bathroom. And from what we understand, he was turning the doorknob when she fired through the door." Says Bryan County Under sheriff, Ken Golden.
After the man was shot, The 12- year old ran out of the closet and called for help.
Deputies tell KTEN, the man was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Plano, Texas and he's expected to survive.
The Home intruder has been identified as Stacy Jones of Texarkana.

Is this a setup?
Three "accidents" in one day at a critical time in the gun debate? And at least some gun shows ask people to unload before entry. Did none of the three shows below do that? Some Brady fanatics might be prepared to take a non-lethal bullet in aid of their cause
At gun shows in Indiana, Ohio and North Carolina, a total of five people were injured Saturday in accidental shootings as people flocked to the events on what was marketed as Gun Appreciation Day.
In Ohio, Medina Police Chief Patrick Berarducci said a 62-year-old man was shot in the arm when his friend, a firearms dealer, accidentally discharged the gun he had purchased from an attendee.
The man was taken to a local Ohio hospital, where he was treated for injuries to his arm and leg. Berarducci said the man will probably stay in the hospital overnight, but described him as in “good spirits.”
Berarducci told the Los Angeles Times that the gun show at the county fairgrounds was so busy that police had to limit the number of people entering.
Meanwhile, in Indianapolis, a man at the Indy 1500 Gun and Knife Show shot his hand as he unloaded a .45-caliber semiautomatic, the Associated Press said.
Three people were also injured at the Dixie Gun and Knife Show in Raleigh, N.C., when a 12-gauge shotgun filled with bird shot accidentally discharged, authorities said.

Arizona: Over 1,000 Support Second Amendment at Capitol
Just a quick note. I am tired from driving to Phoenix to the protest against more gun laws at the capitol, then a quick look at the fairgrounds for the gun show, and then found my place in the desert broke into on the way back. I have some pictures of the rally at the capitol that I hope to post later.
We arrived at the show about 11:45, and had a hard time finding parking. Finally found a spot and moved to the capitol. I counted out a hundred people, cut the crowd into roughly equivalent slices, and figured there were about 600. By the time I left at 1300, there were over 1,000.
Wonderful placards and signs. About a third of the crowd was armed. Quite a few AR15 types, lots of Glock and revolvers, a few muskets for spice.
I saw Alan Korwin. I was not sure he would make it.

Gun horror in NYC
A dangerous and historic discovery was made in Central Park on Friday afternoon.
Parks workers came upon a live cannon ball, loaded in a cannon that is getting refurbished, CBS 2’s Lou Young reported exclusively.
The loaded artillery piece was one of two Revolutionary War-era cannons being stored at the park’s Ramble shed near the 79th Street transverse. Preservation workers for the Central Park Conservancy called police about mid-day after opening up the capped cannon for cleaning.
The NYPD released a picture of what its officers found: more than 800 grams of black powder still capable of firing, along with cotton wadding and a cannonball
That’s right: the loaded cannon was on public display from the 1860s until 1996 when the Conservancy decided to bring it indoors to protect it from vandalism. It was donated to the park about the time of the Civil War.
The finding was a shock to everyone involved, including tourists using the park Friday afternoon.
“Something like that, it’s surprising to be overlooked,” Denise Night said. “It seems like some people are pretty incompetent not to notice after all these years,” Steve Night added.
In fairness, it never occurred to anyone that the cannon, which is said to be at least 233 years old, would still pose a threat. The field piece was already more than 90 years old when it was donated to the park, apparently by someone who’d salvaged it from a sunken British frigate in the East River. It was put on display at the park, and capped with concrete. No one even considered the possibility that British sailors had loaded and sealed it before their ship went down.

States pulling rug from under Obama gun plans
Rallies have been scheduled to protest Barack Obama’s gun agenda, members of Congress are pondering their resistance and American consumers are speaking daily with ever-new records for gun purchases.
Now states are getting into action, with several legislatures already developing bills that would simply pull the rug from under the president’s agenda by specifying that unconstitutional rules or regulations, or executive orders, won’t be allowed.
Rep. Kendell Kroeker of Wyoming introduced HB 104, The Firearms Protection Act, and spoke to WND about the bill.
“The new bill expands to any gun owned in Wyoming and any gun regulation handed down that has to do with banning automatic rifles, banning magazines or gun registration will not apply to any gun, so long as they stay in Wyoming.”
In Wyoming, they like to get right to the point, and the plan states, “An act relating to firearms; providing that any federal law which attempts to ban a semi-automatic firearm or to limit the size of a magazine of a firearm or other limitation on firearms in this state shall be unenforceable…”
Texas also has started its work, developing a plan to block enforcement of those efforts that are in violation of the Second Amendment, which notes that the right to keep and bear arms “shall not be infringed.”
Texas Rep. John Otto, R-Dayton, filed HB553 on Wednesday to make it a misdemeanor for state or federal officials to “enforce or attempt to enforce any acts, laws, executive orders, agency orders, rules or regulations of any kind whatsoever of the United States government relating to confiscating any firearm, banning any firearm, limiting the size of a magazine for any firearm, imposing any limit on the ammunition that may be purchased for any firearm, taxing any firearm or ammunition therefore, or requiring the registration of any firearm or ammunition therefore.”
Missouri has also joined the fight. On Tuesday Rep. Casey Guernsey, R-Bethany, introduced HB170, a similar bill that would block state or federal enforcement of a wide range of unconstitutional federal restrictions on firearms. It also affirms the state’s authority to regulate firearms made and owned within Missouri and makes it a felony for any federal agent to attempt to enforce a federal regulation on those weapons.
Tennessee, South Dakota and South Carolina also have similar bills pending before their legislatures. Sources close to the Tenth Amendment Center indicate as many as a dozen more states could follow suit in the coming weeks.
Alaska also is planning an upgrade of its firearms freedom act too, much like the actions in Wyoming and Texas. Those existing Firearms Freedom Acts were adopted several years ago, and simply state that federal regulation of firearms made, sold and kept in the states is banned.
Lawmakers file Oklahoma Firearms Freedom Act
State Rep. Sean Roberts will be among 15 bill authors of a measure named the Oklahoma Firearms Freedom Act.
House Bill 2021 would assert the Second Amendment rights of Oklahomans by exempting guns or ammunition made in the state from federal regulations. The bill specifies that to qualify for the exemption the guns must be clearly marked as “Made in Oklahoma” and kept within state boundaries.
Flashback—Obama, Circa 1990s: 'I Don't Believe People Should Be Able to Own Guns'
During the 2008 presidential campaign, gun rights author and scholar John Lott recounted meeting Barack Obama for the first time while he was a lecturer at University of Chicago.
When the two met, Lott's reputation on guns preceded him, and Lott claims Obama said, "I don't believe people should be able to own guns."
Read that again, and let it soak in; Barack Obama reportedly said, "I don't think people should be able to own guns." In my correspondence with Lott, he stood by his story.
And there's little reason to doubt Lott's account, especially when you take Obama's history of anti-gun legislation into account.
Consider these examples:
1. In a 1998 questionnaire for the Illinois state legislature, Obama said he wanted to "ban the sale or transfer of all sorts of semi-automatic weapons."But all these things and more are simply symptoms of a bigger issue—namely, that Obama doesn't think people should be able to own guns in the first place.2. From 1998-2001 Obama was on the board of the Joyce Foundation, the "major funder for gun-control research" at that time.
3. Obama opposes concealed carry and always has (every state but Illinois disagrees with him).
4. Obama only sees two "legitimate" purposes for guns: "hunting and target shooting." This means using guns for self defense is not legitimate. And this goes a long way in explaining Obama's past support of laws banning the use of guns for self-defense in Illinois, even in one's own home.
Lott believes Obama's lip service to the Second Amendment is simply part of an overarching Democrat strategy set forth by pollster Mark Penn, which instructs Dems to say they support the Second Amendment in order get elected and then to do everything they can to chip away at it via legislation and regulation once they're in office.
Michigan Legislature Introduces Gun Owner Protection Legislation
As the Michigan state Senate finishes its second week of the new legislative session, pro-gun legislators have already begun to advocate for the rights of law-abiding gun owners. State Senator Thomas Casperson (R-38) filed a bill that would keep the personal information of permit-to-purchase applicants confidential and exempt from Freedom of Information Act requests. This bill, Senate Bill 49, has been scheduled for a hearing on Wednesday January 23 in the Senate Judiciary Committee at 8:30 am.
In other parts of the country, anti-gun media outlets abused their privileges under the Freedom of Information Act and have jeopardized the safety of law-abiding citizens by publishing the names and addresses of registered gun owners. Contrary to their claims, these media elites have not increased public safety. Rather they have simply provided a map for criminals to use on their next burglary. SB 49 would make sure that never happens in Michigan by exempting permit-to-purchase applications from Freedom of Information Act requests.
Please contact your state senator and the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and urge them not to endanger the rights of people that have applied for a permit to purchase and those that have registered the pistol as required by Michigan law. It has been reported that some of the gun owners in New York who had their names and addresses published have already had their houses burglarized and their guns stolen. Your help is needed TODAY to make sure that never happens in Michigan.

There's not a single directive the President announced today that would have prevented the tragedy at Sandy Hook. This is all about extending government control over the lives of law-abiding American citizens.
The administration is focused on "gun control," but what about "spending control?" Naturally, there's no acknowledgement of the damaging debt out-of-control spending puts upon the next generation.

NY gun law: How might NRA challenge it in court?
"The National Rifle Association says it will take to court New York’s tough new gun bill, signed into law by Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) on Tuesday. The new law, called New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act or NY SAFE Act, is particularly tough on the high-capacity ammunition magazines used in semiautomatic assault rifles. Residents of the state will not be allowed to use magazines that carry more than seven rounds and will be required to sell, within a year, any magazines that hold eight or more rounds. Outside experts expect the NRA will challenge the law as a violation of the Second Amendment, which protects the rights of citizens to own and bear arms."

Banning Private Sales Costs Lives (Published Study)
In a paper published in 2008, comparing highly regulated Californian gun shows with relatively unregulated Texas gun shows, there was no statistical difference in suicide rates, but the Texas shows, with far less regulation, showed a statistically significant drop in the homicide rate.
From the study:
"But our results provide little evidence of a gun show-induced increase in mortality in Texas. In fact, we find that in the two weeks following a gun show, the average number of gun homicides declines in the area surrounding the gun show. Aggregating across all gun shows in the state, we find that there are approximately 16 fewer gun homicides resulting from the 200 gun shows in the average year. In the sections below, we discuss several possible explanations for this counterintuitive finding. However, it is important to keep in mind that while these results are statistically significant, they are quite small – representing just one percent of all homicides in Texas in the average year."
This was not a small study. It included data for 10 years and 3,300 gun shows. The two states chosen, California and Texas, contain 20 percent of the population of the United States. It was not conducted by firearm freedom advocates or the NRA.
The evidence is clear. Stopping private sales at guns shows costs lives. President Obama's demand that all private sales be approved of by state agents before they can be made, is counterproductive and will cost innocent lives.
If this seems counterintuitive to you, consider that there is considerable evidence that more guns result in less crime. The logic to support this is not unreasonable. It is that criminals often make rational decisions based on their understanding of the environment that they are in. If they believe that their intended victim may be armed, they will often chose another target, decide not to commit the crime, or decide to commit a non-confrontational crime such as theft from an unoccupied vehicle.
When criminals notice that a gun show is being held in an area, and people can more easily buy and sell guns, it is reasonable to believe that they would understand that potential victims could be armed. This belief would then result in less homicides.
The important thing about this study is that it shows a statistically significant drop in homicides while there is no statistical difference in suicides.
The statistical significance shows that this is not a random artifact of the data gathering process, but is a real effect.
The study shows that requiring universal background checks, in Texas alone, would cost 16 lives per year.

Texans react to President’s proposed firearms plan
President Obama's plan, announced Wednesday, to curtail gun violence in the wake of recent mass shootings is drawing both criticism and praise in the gun-loving state of Texas.
The president is calling for Congress to implement background checks for all gun purchases and to ban certain assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. Republican Gov. Rick Perry said the president's plan "disgusts" him and that it is an effort by the political left to use the killings to accomplish an anti-gun agenda. He called for prayer and a rejection of evil, as opposed to gun regulation. But Sen. Rodney Ellis, D-Houston, said in the wake of the president's announcement that he plans to file legislation to close what has been called the “gun show loophole” in Texas.
IA:Sheriff: Obama's proposals "ridiculous"
(Maryville) -- At least KMAland law enforcement official isn't mincing words when it comes to President Obama's gun control proposals.
The president Wednesday announced a series of congressional actions and executive orders designed to prevent further incidents such as last month's deadly shooting at a Newtown, Connecticut elementary school. Obama's proposals include requiring background checks for all gun sales, including those by private sellers that currently are exempt, reinstating and strengthening the ban on assault weapons that was in place from 1994 to 2004, and limiting ammunition magazines to 10 rounds. Nodaway County Sheriff Darren White calls the president's proposals "absolutely ridiculous."
"People do have the right to have weapons," said White. "The people who are committing these crimes, they're not going to be affected by whatever they try to enact. They're only going to be taking weapons away from good people. The criminals are still going to have weapons in committing these crimes, and they're still going to be doing the same thing."

60 percent of young Americans plan to purchase firearms, study reveals
Sixty percent of high school and college students say they plan on owning guns at a later stage in life, an academic study from American University revealed on Monday.
According to the study, about 40 percent of the American students surveyed said they definitely planned to own firearms once they had established their own households. Another 20 percent said they were “contemplating” owning guns.
Those findings were part of a broader study conducted by American University professor Jennifer L. Lawless and Loyola Marymount professor Richard L. Fox which focused on the political opinions of young Americans. The study was conducted prior the recent Newtown massacre, but after the Aurora theatre shooting.
Lawless told Campus Reform on Tuesday that in her view the findings were proof that President Obama should move swiftly, and without the permission of Congress if necessary, in order limit the availability of firearms.

“The next generation plans on owning guns, so if we want to avoid the tragedies that we’ve seen… we obviously need to move quickly and if an executive order is the way to do it, then that is the way the to do it,” she said.
Alabama Sheriff: Unconstitutional Gun Laws will not be Enforced
HUNTSVILLE, Ala.(WHNT) – A sweeping set of gun control proposals laid out by President Obama on Wednesday is adding more fuel to a growing national debate, and one local lawman is raising concerns that the proposed legislation is unconstitutional.
Madison County Sheriff Blake Dorning told WHNT News 19 that his office will not enforce new gun control legislation if he feels those laws violate the Second Amendment. Dorning said he has serious doubts about President Obama’s latest proposals, stating that any gun laws which do pass would have to be in line with the U.S. Constitution and Alabama state law in order to be enforceable.
“The federal authorities can try to enforce it,” said Dorning. “I’m the Sheriff of Madison County. I took a constitutional oath to defend the Constitution of the United States of America, to defend the Constitution of the State of Alabama, even if it takes my life. That is my position.”
REPUBLICAN INSIDER: Obama Livid Over Gun Rights Backlash
Like me you were probably watching the president’s gun control speech today. Was told this morning the presentation today was a revised version that was completed just last night after a bunch of back and forth between the White House and Senate leaders. Guessing that would be Harry Reid mostly. Last week the president was ready to go all in on the executive order scenario. Confiscation was going to be in play. Then the backlash came and it forced Obama to back off. He didn’t want to but after Reid said it was a no go, and the NRA was preparing to go to war with the White House, the president was given a revised script and that is what we heard this morning. You could tell too. Obama stumbled over the words more than usual. He didn’t have the time to prep the script like he normally does. Probably fuming he was forced to read the new version also.
This time WE WON and OBAMA LOST.
If people want to know how to go at the administration, this is how you do it. Be informed, and make your voices heard. This is an example of how the new media I have been telling you about can work against the globalists. It can be a huge weapon against them. And a big thank you to the NRA. It took on Obama and didn’t back off. A big part of the plan coming from the White House was to cripple the NRA and make it a liability for 2014 and beyond. That didn’t work and it will be a liability, but one that is going to hurt Democrats, not conservatives. Big time backfire for the Obama White House. I was told it “rocked them on their heels”. They fundamentally don’t understand the American people and they didn’t see this backlash coming. They have the media, and the glossy presentations, but they don’t really understand the American people and this debate was a pure example of that being played out. I love it!
