Two shot in S. Philadelphia home invasion: "Philadelphia police are investigating a home invasion that ended with a double shooting. Police sources tell Action News the two shot were the teenagers committing the home invasion. Those sources say it all happened around 4:30 a.m. when a 19 year old man and a 15 year old boy broke into the front door of a home in the 1700 block of Pierce Street. Police say a resident inside the home pulled out a gun and began firing at the two teenagers, striking them both. The 19 year old male was shot in the abdomen and is in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The 15 year old male teenager is in stable condition at HUP. No word yet on any charges as police investigate."


Georgia good neighbour shoots robbers: "A third man involved in an alleged home invasion Saturday night remained at Colquitt Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound Tuesday. Moultrie Police Investigator Lt. Alfonzo Cook said Calvin Tyrone Suggs, of 1515 Fourth Ave. N.E., Apt. L-7, was shot once in the back. A Colquitt Regional spokesman did not release his condition. Apondrea Coneil Marshall Jr., 18, of 2771 Fifth St. S.E., Apt. 7, and Darnell Slaughter III, 21, of 502 Ninth St. S.W., were each charged with criminal attempt to commit armed robbery. Marshall was also charged on an unrelated making harassing phone calls warrant. Cook said Suggs would also face criminal attempt to commit armed robbery charges once he is released from Colquitt Regional. An officer was called to Pineland Apartments on 26th Avenue Southeast at 9:44 p.m. Saturday. Cook said Ivan Hightower reported he heard noises outside his apartment and saw Marshall, Slaughter and Suggs allegedly tried to get in. Hightower told officers he pulled his own gun after seeing one of the men carrying one, and Cook said he fired shots at the would-be robbers. Suggs was shot once in the back, and Slaughter suffered three wounds to his buttocks and arm. As of Tuesday morning, Cook said no charges will be filed against Hightower from the alleged incident."


CA: Off-duty Santa Ana officer shoots suspected robber: "A man was in critical condition today after an off-duty Santa Ana police officer shot him in self-defense after seeing him rob a 7-Eleven convenience store and confronting him, police said. At about 12:50 p.m. the officer parked in front of a 7-Eleven at 17th and Flower streets saw a man "pull a hood over his face and arm himself with a handgun" before entering the store, said Cpl. Jose Gonzalez of the Santa Ana Police Department. "The officer stayed outside the store during what he believed was a robbery and called in the incident to dispatch," Gonzalez said. The officer then followed the man to a house on the 1400 block of North Flower Street, where he identified himself. The man then ran up the driveway grabbing his waistband, Gonzalez said, at which point, "the officer, fearing for his safety, fired multiple shots, striking him in the upper torso." The man was taken to a hospital, where he remained in critical but stable condition, Gonzalez said. "Thankfully the officer was uninjured, and the Orange County district attorney's office along with the Santa Ana Police Department detectives are all on scene to conduct this ongoing investigation," he added."


FL: Home invader caught: "A 24-year-old man who has eluded several attempts by law enforcement officials to arrest him on a warrant for an armed home invasion in July was picked up by sheriff's deputies Wednesday. According to sheriff's officials, Derrick K. Langley of Belleview went to Ocala Regional Medical Center earlier this week to be treated for a broken arm. He checked in under the name Darren Landley. Receiving a tip he was at the facility, officials waited until he was being released before arresting him. Langley, who is now in the jail infirmary, has a sling on his left arm in his booking photo. Langley was charged with armed home invasion and resisting without violence. In his report, Detective Art King stated that Langley and Aaron Beardsley, 25, entered a couple's home via the back door July 9 with the intent of robbing the occupants. Michael Nash, 27, a resident in the home, said he saw the men in the living room and that they fought with him until his girlfriend, Jennifer Hunley, heard the commotion and entered the room. Hunley told Langley, who had a nail gun, and Beardsley, who had a handgun, to stop beating on Nash. When they refused, she went into her bedroom, got a revolver, returned to the room and fired a warning shot in the air. Langley ran out the back, while his alleged accomplice fired a shot at Hunley, the report notes. Hunley returned fire, but none hit Beardsley, who ran away."
