CT: Man gets suspended sentence in defensive shooting: "A former New London resident charged with shooting somebody after firing his revolver out of his Wightman Street apartment during an attempted break-in last April has pleaded guilty to reduced charges and received a suspended sentence. Witnesses told police the shots had come from the area of the second-floor apartment at 21 Wightman St. As police approached the apartment, they found three .45-caliber shell casings and noticed the rear of the house had been struck three times by bullets. Police questioned the nine people in the apartment, including Purdue-Pulido and two other tenants. They said Purdue-Pulido had a .22-caliber revolver and eventually admitted his involvement. Purdue-Pulido told police a couple of men had come up the back stairway and knocked on the door; one tried to force his way in with a large-caliber pistol. Purdue-Pulido said he fired a shot into the air out his bedroom window in an attempt to scare the men away. When somebody fired back two or three times, he said he fired the remaining rounds from his revolver out the window "in an act of self-defense." He said he didn't take aim at anyone "but simply blindly fired the gun out the window," according to the police report. He said after the shooting he saw four or five men flee north on Maple Street.
Idaho: Shooting ban "Kuna City Council is headed down the path of prohibiting shooting within the city limits. Not too long ago, they stretched their city limits miles in every direction to include corn fields, wheat fields, hundreds of acres of farmland, fallow land and much more. What problems are they solving ... and what problems are they creating?"
