If this story is as reported, it is the first case I have read where a pump action rifle is used for the robbery. Pump action shotguns are much more common, so it might be a case of mistaken identification.
TEMPLE (June 10, 2013)—A man who used a long-barreled pump action rifle to rob a Temple convenience store and then fled to a waiting truck as the store’s owner fired at him, remained at large Monday, police said.
The robbery was reported just before 11 p.m. Friday at Central Food Mart at 2004 North 3rd Street in Temple.
The victims told officers that the man, whom they described as a light-skinned black, was wearing a gray or white hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and a white cloth over his face when he entered the store, pointed the rifle at them and ordered them to the floor, police said.
