Warning shots are usually a bad policy, but here, they appear to have worked. The police could not be sure who was who until they investigated.
Police in Wauwatosa needed to save a burglar after a man in the 1500 block of North 60th Street fired four shots at him.

Down at the station, the burglar admitted to taking the money. He said
that he was riding his bike around Wauwatosa, angry about an argument he
had with his mother and looking to get money from cars.
