The homeowner armed himself, went to the garage because he heard
noises there, encountered Espino, and shot him once, police said.
Espino
was critically injured but he was upgraded to stable condition late
Monday afternoon. The homeowner wouldn’t go on camera but said, “The
whole thing scared the hell out of me.”
