Ford said his next-door neighbor had knocked on his door, asking for
help. When Ford stepped outside, he saw three men at the neighbor’s
house. He told the men several times to leave the area, but they kept
coming toward him. Ford said he fired his gun when Salyer was about a
foot away from him.
