Lessons to be learned from Mexican citizens' fight

On Feb. 2, I wrote about the brave Mexican citizens (called vigilantes by the press) who were fighting to remove the Knights Templar drug cartel in the Michoacán area. They did this with illegal guns (media labeled assault weapons). Yahoo News recently noted that these Mexican Patriots succeeded in largely expelling the Knights Templar cartel when state and local authorities couldn't. They did this in six to eight months, something the Mexican government has not been able nor willing to do for years.

The Mexican state first reaction was to attempt to take away these citizen-held guns, after failing that, are now attempting to register them under the guise of going town by town to organize and recruit so-called rural defense forces. Not all patriotic drug fighting groups are cooperating, suggesting registration is just an attempt to ID
