Detroit— Gun
rights activists hosted an open-carry picnic Saturday at Milliken State
Park along the riverfront to stress the importance of carrying firearms
for self-defense.
“It’s just like any other
picnic. The only thing that separates us is that the vast majority of
us are open carrying our firearms,” said Patrick Dunbar, the southeast
regional coordinator for Michigan Open Carry.
Around
85 men, women and children attended the picnic at the state park along
the river walk. Most were carrying holstered pistols at their hips while
they enjoyed a grilled hot dog lunch and pop.
