CA Poll: Is Self Defense a Good Reason for a Concealed Carry Permit?
California Poll:
Do you think self-defense is good enough cause to be issued a concealed weapons permit?
This is a straight yes or no question, and it is getting a clear response. It is about 6-1 in favor of second amendment supporters at this time. The question is based on the resolution of the Peruta decision, which says, in a straightforward way, that the second amendment protects the right of a person to carry arms outside of the home for self defense. The result of the decision is that California permit applicants will not be denied a permit at the whim of the chief law enforcement officer of a jurisdiction. A number of California sheriffs have been to issuing permits on a "shall issue" basis for years, but the large urban centers in San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco have consistently refused to issue nearly all permits, except for those politically connected.
Do you think self-defense is good enough cause to be issued a concealed weapons permit?
Yes 85% (546 votes)
No 14% (93 votes)
The Link for the poll is here
On line polls measure the ratio of those who are interested enough to answer an online poll. The results here are typical. Second Amendment supporters typically outnumber those who push for more restrictions by 3-10 to 1. In this case the ratio is now 6-1 ratio. This poll is asking a clear question about the legitimacy of self defense. Those who want more restrictions on guns must delegitimize self defense, or they lose.
