This is only the second case that I have found where two people with concealed carry permits got into a gunfight. It is an extremely rare circumstance.
Sandy Springs Police responded to a shooting just after 11pm on June 10,
2015 at 3295 River Exchange Drive. A man was found in the parking lot
with a gunshot wound to the chest. The male with the gunshot wound has
been identified as the suspect, 53-year old Kevin Gandy of
Lawrenceville. The shooting was a result of a disagreement over a
vehicle. The suspect was attempting to retrieve the vehicle for his
niece and pointed a gun at the victim, Sean McDuffie,
the ex-boyfriend of the niece. The victim retreated and also had a gun
in his possession. Multiple shots were fired between the two
individuals and the suspect was shot in the chest. The victim was not
injured and it was determined that the victim shot the suspect in self-
defense. Both Gandy and McDuffie possess a valid Georgia Weapons Carry
License. The suspect is in serious but stable condition at North Fulton
Hospital and has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a
Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
