Followup TX: Former Jailer Found not Guilty in Domestic Homicide

Gonzalez was on trial for a second time for the shooting death of Ivan Reyes at the Brownsville home of Gonzalez’s former girlfriend in June 2014. The incident sparked a seven-hour standoff with police, as Gonzalez held his ex-girlfriend hostage.

The former jailer’s first trial ended in a mistrial, when the jury couldn’t decide if Gonzalez shot Reyes in a jealous rage or in self-defense.
