ME: .22 Beats Knife, Robbery Suspect Wounded



Police say two men with a knife tried to rob a 27-year-old man, but the victim defended himself with a .22 caliber handgun.

The man thought he did not hit anyone, but an hour after the incident, police say a man who ran from the scene went to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his shoulder.

This news story demonstrates 2 very important - and timeless - principles of self-defense, which have been noted often by this website:

1. The 'lowly' .22 caliber, contrary to shooter lore and conventional wisdom, is and extraordinary effective against an attacker; and,
2. Bad guys don't want to get shot with anything.
