RI: Gun Beats Pepper Spray, Masked Intruder Shot

Patalano said the homeowners were awoken by a noise at approximately 3 a.m. on June 27 and found the power had gone out. When one of the occupants went into the basement to check the circuit breaker, he was confronted by a man – later identified as Anderson – wearing a mask and armed with pepper spray. The other occupant, meanwhile, had retrieved a firearm.

“When this individual confronted [the homeowners] and began spraying them with pepper spray, at some point the intruder was shot,” Patalano said.
