The last time I went shopping in a Yuma Wal-Mart I bought a bucket of 1400 rounds of .22lr two 100 count and some bird shot.. 22's are not thought of as very deadly but with the range they have you can make a lot of holes that leak and slow down any thing you hit. Five or six holes leaking is just as good a blasting chunks away. The point is the closer an attacker get to you the more damage they might do to you . If they never get close enough you can shoot something else at the attacker bleeds out with a scope a .22 can make effective head shot and that slows the attacker to a dead stop. Of course If you are too stupid to learn to use the sights on your weapon you are going to waste a loot of ammo.

Fire a .223 tracer at night after 400 yards you have no idea of where that round is going to hit. too fast to light and to unstable.

I carried an M-16 for a year in Vietnam I would not own one if it was made of solid gold.
