On 09/07/2026 at approximately 1900 hours Officers began investigating a domestic disturbance. During the course of the investigation it was learned the suspect involved in the domestic disturbance was firing shots into an apartment complex. Officers responded to the area and located the suspect. When confronted the suspect did not follow commands and was uncooperative. Officers took up a position of advantage. While doing so, and giving commands for the suspect to drop the gun, a single gunshot was heard. Officers approached the suspect and discovered she was suffering from a gunshot wound. No officers discharged their firearms. Medical personnel attempted life saving measures but were unsuccessful. Due to the circumstances involved the CSPD Homicide Unit responded.
