The pistol appears to function properly, with reasonable accuracy. The 3D printer used has been said to cost $250,000. What such printers would cost 10 years from now is hard to say, but I could believe that they could be down to $50,000 by then in inflation adjusted dollars.
Most forecasts of falling prices are too conservative.

In less that say 5 years, the software fed into the 3D printer may not be compatible with that printer.
