GA: Home Intruder Shot, Killed

An Augusta man was fatally shot early Monday by the resident of an Wrightsboro Road home while attempting to break into the residence, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

The man killed was identified by authorities as Anthony James Lawson, 40, of 3411 Charing Cross Road, of Augusta. He was shot at a residence in the 2400 block of Wrightsboro Road and pronounced dead at 3:38 a.m., Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen said.
