Followup VA: Man who Shot Dog found Not Guilty of Animal Cruelty
A man who said he shot a neighbor’s dog because it was threatening his family was found not guilty of felony animal cruelty earlier this week.
Judge Stephen Mahan ruled at the end of a one-day trial in Circuit Court that Maurice Everett Valentine acted in self-defense when he fired at the Rottweiler, said Macie Allen, a spokeswoman for the commonwealth’s attorney.
